What Our Customers Say!
Our total $1,700 electric bill for 2007 reflects the efficiency of our geothermal heating and cooling system. The only other means of backup heating is a gas fireplace. The system is so quiet (no big furnace or central air kicking in every 5 minutes) that you can almost hear yourself think. We are pleased that we do not have an unsightly oil or propane tank in our rural location. Our system has been worry free since it was installed by S&B Geothermal three years ago and we highly recommend their service and ECONAR heat pumps.

S&B Geothermal installed a geothermal heat pump in our new Afton, MN home in the early 1990s. It recently gave out in very cold weather. S&B Geothermal was very responsive to our need for immediate heat. It's installers were here the same day with a new back-up furnance. A new high efficiency heat pump was installed and operating within two days. We have had nothing but good service from S&B Geothermal.

When we were exploring our options for installing a geothermal system, we investigated many vendors. S&B Geothermal provided a proposal that was simple, straight-forward and didn't have any hidden or undetermined costs! In our opinion, S&B carried the most experience installing geothermal systems as some other vendors have just started doing geothermal systems. We didn't want a botched installation due to a lack of experience.
S&B Geothermal worked diligently with my builder to ensure a proper installation. The installation was professional and of great quality.
We've been in our home for over 2 years and we are astounded by the quality of the installation and the performance of the system. We keep our home at about 72 degrees year-around. Our system keeps our house warm even when the temperature hits 20 below. We don't worry about our pocket book when we want to turn up the thermostat in the winter or turn it down in the summer. The cost per month is less than our cable bill! The geothermal system has saved us about $1000 per year. We are looking to get a return on our investment in about 4-5 years.

We live in Northern Minnesota about 20 miles from Grand Rapids. We have some pretty brutal winters with temperatures as low as 30 - 40 below zero. Before building this house we had an outside wood boiler which we would have to cut any where from 10 to 12 cords of firewood per winter. When we sold we were pretty sure we were going to go with geothermal heat after talking with Bill Arzdorf of SB Geothermal. We sold that house and built a new house in 2006 consisting of 3000 square feet of living space and 700 square feet for the garage. We have had that system for the last 4 years and we are averaging $56.25 a month for both heating and air-conditioning. The average kilowatt usage is 1,395 kilowatts per month. This does not include the taxes or any cost riders. We do have a wood fireplace backup so that we qualify for the dual fuel rates which were .042 for the first year, .044 for the second year and .051 for the last two years. We are very, very pleased with our system and one thing for sure is that we do not miss having to cut all of that firewood. We really love the consistency of the air-conditioning in the summertime also. Would highly recommend geothermal to anyone. Also am so pleased with Bill and if ever we have a problem he is right there to help.
