Energy Use Estimator

How much will it cost to heat and cool your home?  Answer ...  "it depends".  It depends on how well your home is built, what the weather is like in any given year, how many people occupy the home, how many lights and appliances operate in the home, how much the doors and windows are opened, and a lot of other factors.

Regardless, an estimate can be made using the following estimator.  Change any of the parameters in the blue section.  Enter your local prices for energy, your heating and cooling degree days, the home's design temperature point and modify the equipment efficiency numbers.  Click on the calculate button to see your results.

To determine:
- Your local heating degree days, go to www.worldclimate.com and enter your local area information.
- Your local design temperature and heating and cooling load.   Your ground source heat pump contractor can provide this information.
