System Costs

About Ground Source Heat Pumps   Frequently Asked Questions

As the leading installer of geothermal heat pump systems, S&B Geothermal can provide an accurate estimate of the system you prefer.  At S&B Geothermal, we've done so many systems we know what it takes to do the job right and you wont be paying for "on the job training" for someone to learn how to do geothermal heat pumps.  When you have your building plans, we can accurately estimate your system's cost.

The cost of a geothermal heat pump system depends on a number of variables:
- Building size and construction.
- Location.
- Soil conditions.
- Geothermal system type (hydronic, forced air, both) and any other equipment needed.
- Loop field type and size.
- Heating and cooling load.

It is extremely difficult to accurately estimate what an installation will cost without doing an estimate on the project.  But here are a few "rules-of-thumb" that can help:
- Geothermal systems cost more to install but cost less to own than any other system.
- Breakeven can run between 2 and 7 years, or more, depending on local weather, installation costs and local energy costs.
- The cost of the loop field is a majority of the incremental cost versus a quality conventional system.
- For open systems, the cost of the system is minimal versus a conventional system.
